Standout Wearables at Bay Area Maker Faire 2016

Since our main focus is showing off the fashionable side of science, of course we were drawn toward all of the awesome new outfits, accessories and wearables at Bay Area Maker Faire.

Check out some of our favorites below!

3D Printed Animal Hat

Designer Eunny was showing off all of her models at the TinkerCAD booth at Maker Faire in fantastic fashion. She personally created all of the models on her hat using 3D modeling and them 3D printing and attaching them to her hat creating a wonderfully colorful creation. Like the models? You can find them here to print them yourself!

Wooden Man

Not only could you look at this awesome creation, you could try it on too! This wooden creation was surprisingly nimble and created a cool combination of old fashion creation and a futuristic look.

Flip Book Hat

Start-up Flip book was showing off their unique creations which automate flip book drawings, and one way they did this was a rad steampunk inspired hat! Running constantly, you couldn’t help but stare at this fashion statement. The cogs on the side only added to the fantastic style of this hat.

MakeFashion Show

The biggest stand out for us at the event was all the fashion tech clothes, especially those exhibited at the Make Fashion show. Here everything from KNEX to 3D printing was shown off as dresses and accessories. The show was full of tons of lights that truly shown in the dark room were the event was held. We were especially huge fans of Altered Alteiror who used an amazing 3D printing on fabric technique that we are excited to try out ourselves. Check out a tutorial they put together here as well to see how they do it!

Giveaways

We also had to take a second to show off some of the fun wearable giveaway we got at Maker Faire. The highlight was definitely the Google safety glasses that I definitely plan to use in the future. Intel was also giving out a fun LED pin inspired by America’s Greatest Makers. Other highlights were our STEAM pin, Maker Faire weekend admission bracelet and lip gloss I got to make by techbridge.

Overall the event was a blast that only inspired us to want to make even more! We can’t wait to come back and see all the amazingness again.
